Celebrating Advent

The national holiday season, Thanksgiving, is over. Now we enter into the holy day season, Christmas. Or, more precisely, we’re in Advent, preparing for the joyous day of the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Here is a beautiful video, from Totus Tuus Productions/YouTube, that explains Advent and our liturgical and worship traditions.

The reason for the season is Christ and the season is Advent.

Deo Gratias: Vatican Issues How To Video For Priests To Celebrate The Latin Mass

The Vatican has been in the YouTube age for some time, but it has released a DVD for priests on how to celebrate the Latin Mass, excerpts of which can be found on YouTube. Some see this as a signal that it won’t be long before the option is a little less optional and the Vatican gets the Bishops in gear in ensuring each parish has at least one Mass per weekend in Latin.

After all, it is the Latin Rite isn’t? This comes via Telegraph UK (of all places) and PewSitter.com, a magnificent Catholic news resource and which we welcome to our media links as of today.

Forgot what the Latin Mass was like? So have many priests. Here’s a refresher. The Vatican may be about to ensure that each parish, where possible, offer one Latin Mass as an option for those who choose to worship that way.

If you have never heard or heard of Father John Corapi, you should. You can see him regularly on EWTN and online. Simply Google him and you will see how much material there is of him. His conversion story is one for the books and one everyone should hear. He even has his own YouTube Channel, from which this is taken:

From a Los Angeles millionaire, to drug addicted street person, to a Catholic Priest . . . Father John Corapi’s story is simply amazing. This is a simplified ten minute version of Fr. Corapi’s Conversion Story (otherwise known as his Personal Testimony). The statement of this 10 minute video is simple . . . “God’s Name is Mercy!”

Father John Corapi is an inspiration to millions and an example to all those looking for their way to the Lord. Share his testimony with others.

How Do You Say Tolerance In Italian?

I found this doing some research on something else, and if this isn’t the world turned upside down, I don’t know what is: A year or so prior to the controversy over Notre Dame conferring an honorary doctorate to pro-abortion President Barack Obama, and allowing him to speak at its commencement, a university in Rome tried to keep Pope Benedict XVI from speaking there! Unbelievable! Maybe it’s a translation thing, but the definition of tolerance has one strange meaning in Italian.

From CatholicNewsAgency.com/YouTube.

Let’s get this straight: One college protested the Holy Father’s appearance because of his teachings, while one welcomed with open arms a president who contradicts them?

The Lighter Side . . .

Just to show we have a sense of humor . . . get a load of this: Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen on What’s My Line? I love classic TV anyway, and this defines it. However, there is something to take away from this: Check out the deportment of the celebrities. Do you think there could a “celebrity panel” today without suggestive language, outlandish attire and an inattention to manners?

Please enjoy and share, and you can find an entire catalogue of Bishop Sheen videos on YouTube (click here).

Must See TV: Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen in a light moment.
