As almost all Catholic media have, we’ve been tracking the public dispute (first here) between Bishop Thomas J. Tobin of the Diocese of Providence, R.I., and U.S. Representative Patrick Kennedy (then here). Now, NBC10 television in Providence has posted an online poll question asking who the public supports in this debate between two of that state’s most well known public figures. Here’s the question:
Do you agree with Providence Bishop Thomas Tobin that Rep. Patrick Kennedy is “less Catholic” because of his political beliefs?
As of this post, Bishop Tobin has an almost 2-1 lead. Just goes to show that the Truth always wins. Oh, if only more politicians knew that. To vote, click here. I did. Can you guess which way I voted?

I agree with Bishop Thomas Tobin and appreciate his courage to stand up for what is clear about life in God’s holy teachings.
Rhea: Thanks for your comment. Did you vote in that poll? Please continue to visit our blog and spread the word. The Traditional Catholic Internet presence is growing and it’s helping turn the tide.

Imagine if Kennedy wrote a letter to the Chairman of the DNC claiming that his rejection of the platform of the Democrat party, and his support for positions that are diametrically opposed to that platform, did not make him any less a Democrat. No one would take such a claim seriously. Yet he writes such a letter to Bishop Tobin and many people fail to see how ridiculous that is.
Ed: That is an excellent point and shows the double standard by which those who want to bend the Faith to suit their political needs live by. Not only the Catholic In Name Only politicians, but their enablers in the media as well.

What is sad is that any Catholic would side with Kennedy on this most important issue of our time and our faith. You cannot be Catholic and pro-choice and claim to live the faith. It is an outright scandal to try and do so. All pro-choice Catholics should be given the exit door.
Hello, I’m searching google and found your post. Nice post. Thanks!
